    June 21, 2016

Col. Mary S. Feik with a Vultee BT-13, one of the many aircraft she flew during her long career.

A memorial service for Col. Mary S. Feik, who died June 10 at age 92, has been announced for 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, July 23, at the BWI Airport Marriott, 1743 W. Nursery Road, in Linthicum, Maryland.

Call 410-859-8300 to reserve a limited number of reduced-rate rooms. A free airport shuttle and parking are included.

Lt. Col. Robin Vest, Feik’s daughter, is seeking photos of her mother presenting Civil Air Patrol cadets with their Mary Feik Achievement certificates. Feik, who received numerous honors during her long career in aeronautics, regarded the 2002 creation of the Mary Feik Achievement milestone award for cadets as her greatest honor. The Feik achievement marks completion of Achievement 3 in Phase I of the cadet program; it accompanies promotion to the grade of cadet senior airman.

At her own expense, over the ensuing 13 years Feik paid to print thousands of her achievement certificates and traveled to numerous CAP wing conferences to present signed copies to cadets who had earned them. She made well over 10,000 such presentations, Vest estimates.

Photos of Feik presentations should be submitted via eServices.
