NATIONAL HEADQUARTERS – For the third straight year, Civil Air Patrol is one of 20 aviation charitable organizations nominated for a Lightspeed Aviation Foundation gift and grant program.
The 20 organizations, selected from hundreds of nominees, will benefit from grants to be awarded this fall. The foundation is in its third year of partnering with the pilot community to identify worthy causes, give pilots a voice in which organization they will support and make a lasting difference.
Nearly $250,000 – including $10,000 grants for CAP from the foundation in 2010 and 2011 – has been awarded in the first two years, reaching well over 100,000 people with services, training and inspiration.
As part of the program, all aviation enthusiasts are invited to vote in the Pilot’s Choice Awards online. The top five charities, as chosen by the aviation community, will each receive a check for at least $10,000.
Lightspeed Aviation customers will also have a special opportunity to participate when they register their Lightspeed headsets and vote in the Customer Choice Awards. The top five customer choice vote recipients will each receive award gifts of $5,000 each and every finalist will receive a grant of at least $1,000.
“We’re more excited than ever about the impact we can make together to grow the aviation community,” said Allan Schrader, Lightspeed Aviation president.” Organizations like AOPA and EAA have allowed us to join with them in reaching out to bless other organizations that are doing good in the aviation community.
“It’s certainly our sincere hope that pilots, aviation enthusiasts, for-profit and nonprofit organizations will join in the efforts to grow aviation and make a positive impact on our world.”
