NEW YORK – Joe Piccotti, chief of aircraft operations at National Headquarters, was honored at the 2012 Burnt Hills High School Wrestling Hall of Excellence dinner as the hall’s newest inductee.
Piccotti lettered in wrestling all three years on the school’s varsity wrestling team from 1976-1979. He was team captain in 1979.
The Hall of Excellence, founded in 1994, recognizes inductees for “outstanding dedication to a life of excellence and the advancement of excellence in others." Inductees from previous years include Jeff Blatnick, Olympic gold medal winner in 1984, and Jason Morris, 1992 Olympic silver Medalist.
Piccotti served as a pilot in the U.S. Air Force for more than 23 years. He has volunteered with the Boy Scouts of America for more than two decades, serving in a variety of leadership positions, and has coached youth in numerous sports, including soccer, baseball and softball, in the U.S. and overseas.
He also participated in ABC-TV’s “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” in February 2009, helping build a home for a deserving family in Montgomery, Ala., near National Headquarters.
