With assist from CAP pilot, World War II WASP refreshes flying skills on her 90th birthday

July 29, 2010

CALIFORNIA It's sort of like riding a bicycle; you never really forget. Seven decades after flying a twin-engine bomber in her 20s, a former Women's Airforce Service Pilot flew a light plane across the ridge from Redlands to Apple Valley for breakfast. Alma Fornal of Highland was accompanied by Civil Air Patrol Maj. Gene Jozens of Rialto, who invited Fornal for her birthday flight. Jozens is a member of California Wing’s Cable Composite Squadron 25.
