WASP, including York native who flew with CAP, receive gold medal

PENNSYLVANIA -- Mary Reineberg Buchard, who served in the Civil Air Patrol in her hometown of York, Pa., was among the 1,000 Women Airforce Service Pilots, or WASP, honored with the Congressional Gold Medal, the highest civilian honor given by Congress. The gold medal ceremony was awarded last Wednesday on Capitol Hill. Buchard, 94, could not attend, but her three children were present to represent her.
