HAWAII – Hawaii Wing members’ response to a tsunami warning Wednesday is described in a Kauai “Garden Island” article in which the Hawaii Wing’s commander, Col. Roger Caires, and vice commander, Lt. Col. Ron Victorino, are quoted, along with Lt. Col. Neil Rapozo, emergency services officer for the Kauai Composite Squadron, which Victorino also commands. Had the watch not been subsequently canceled, the officials were ready to fly over remote coastal areas to warn residents of the potential danger, using warning sirens and microphones. Another such warning had been issued Sept. 29.
