MICHIGAN -- Marine Cpl. Jacob Turbett died Feb. 13 in Afghanistan during a major offensive against the Taliban. His mother, Sheila Turbett, said he was killed by a single gunshot. Previously, the military-minded Turbett had completed tours of duty in Bangladesh and Iraq and had been stationed in Okinawa, Japan. While attending high school in Canton, Mich., Turbett served as a cadet with the Civil Air Patrol.
