Calif. cadets rush to downed aircraft, children in takeoff mishap

CALIFORNIA – California Wing cadets were among those responding Oct. 3 when an airplane with three children aboard plunged to the ground during takeoff at the annual Wings and Wheels event at Westover Field, the Amador Ledger Dispatch reports, citing the quick reaction of Cadet Senior Airman Kyle Zimmerman of Westover Composite Squadron 119, who turned off the plane’s fuel switch and tended to its transponders. No injuries were reported.
