Civil Air Patrol Volunteer Now

Three generations of Civil Air Patrol link past with the future in Mountain Lakes

    January 13, 2016

NEW JERSEY – When Mountain Lakes High School sophomore Sloane Liput joined Civil Air Patrol in October 2015, she became the third generation in her family to serve in CAP, the official U.S. Air Force Auxiliary. Sloane joined her father Andrew Liput, the Picatinny Squadron’s public affairs officer, and her 88-year-old grandfather, Andrew Liput Sr., who served as a subchaser with CAP from 1944-1945, as a CAP volunteer. Sloane would like to attend West Point and is proud to carry on a family tradition of volunteer service. "I only recently discovered my grandfather's war service and have really enjoyed listening to his stories, especially how he received his wings with Civil Air Patrol and how his Army pilot cut his shirt tail when he soloed in the fighter plane," she said.
