Squadrons ready to soar with new Cessnas

    February 24, 2016

MONTANA/LOUISIANA – Two Civil Air Patrol squadrons in two states welcomed new aircraft recently — the Lewis and Clark Composite Squadron in Helena, Mont., and the Ascension Parish Composite Squadron in Gonzales, La. Getting their own plane is a big deal for CAP squadrons, shaving time to get airborne for a search and giving cadets a plane to work with as they learn, said CAP pilot 1st Lt. Jay Bonde. The Cessna at the Helena Regional Airport arrived from Colorado, while the one at the Louisiana Regional Airport in Gonzales is a new C-182 aircraft equipped with a Garmin G-1000 “glass cockpit.”
