Jersey team advances in cybersecurity contest

    January 10, 2014

NEW JERSEY -- A team of Gloucester County Civil Air Patrol cadets is learning how to tackle what President Obama has called “one of the most serious economic and national security challenges we face as a nation” -- the cyber threat. Seven cadets from the Gloucester County Composite Squadron are competing in CyberPatriot, a national cybersecurity competition created by the Air Force Association six years ago to encourage careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). The cadets from Gloucester County make up one of eight CAP teams remaining as semifinalists. They will resume competing Jan. 17 in a three-day session in hopes of becoming one of the finalists to meet face to face in March at National Harbor, Md.
