ALASKA -- A spokesman for the Alaska Air National Guard says rescue units are responding to a downed aircraft north of Fairbanks. Maj. Guy Hayes told KTUU-TV on Wednesday night that the Fairbanks Civil Air Patrol responded to a report of an overdue plane and found a downed aircraft about 40 miles north of Fairbanks. The Air Guard's Sgt. Gail Paculba says the aircraft was a private plane. She said she had no additional information immediately available.
