CAP, others search for possible N.Y. plane crash

    July 6, 2012

NEW YORK -- Authorities in Schuyler County searched for a crashed plane on Thursday. But they're not sure if one actually went down. Schuyler County Sheriff Bill Yessman says a plane was flying over Cayuta Lake in the town of Catherine around noon, when the pilot noticed an emergency signal coming from a beacon somewhere below. Civil Air Patrol, two fire departments, sheriff’s deputies and a state police helicopter searched the area for a plane. But they didn’t find anything at all. The search was called off Thursday afternoon.
