Flags that are torn or tattered should be retired by burning them, according to the U.S. Flag Code, and more than 3,500 flags were retired at a Flag Day ceremony in Summit County in Ohio. Officers and cadets from Civil Air Patrol's Ohio Wing assisted with the formal ceremony for burning the flags. Members from the California Wing also participated in a Flag Day ceremony held at Livermore-Pleasanton Elks Lodge #2117.
