Cadet, father escape SUV submerged in pond

    February 17, 2016

KENTUCKY – Civil Air Patrol Cadet Chief Master Sgt. Michael Dahl of Georgetown and his father, Lance, escaped a submerged SUV following a recent car accident in Scott County. “It all just happened very quickly. You just don't think about anything else,” he said. Seconds later, Dahl recalled his training in Boy Scouts and CAP and realized there was plenty of time to get out of the SUV, which had plunged into a frigid roadside pond. He and his father worked patiently to get the passenger door open and get out without serious injury. Dahl, who currently serves as cadet commander of the Centenary Composite Squadron in Frankfort, recalled the incident in this report for WLEX-TV, the NBC affiliate in Lexington.
