100 cadets train for winter weather emergencies

    February 5, 2013

PENNSYLVANIA -- Civil Air Patrol helped aide in the recent search for a missing Somerset snowmobiler alongside state police and fire officials, and they were out in the elements this past weekend for a winter weather exercise in case they are called upon again. Nearly 100 cadets in CAP ages 12-18 gathered near Friedens to train among air patrol specialists and other EMS and paramedic professionals. They were taught skills in ground search and rescue, learned new techniques and other real-life staged scenarios, which pleased Pennsylvania Wing Commander Col. Sandra Brandon. “I am very proud of all of our members, cadets and adults, who have taken the time this weekend to come out and train for our emergency services mission. Training like this keeps us ready for missions like the one we participated in this past week in Somerset County for the missing snowmobiler who was found safe.”
